COVID-19 Deep Cleaning Services for Schools

School reopening: how to approach DAILY cleaning TASKS

Increase your regular Daily cleaning schedule

Speak to your onsite cleaning staff to agree additional hours for cleaning. However, enhanced regular cleaning is required, and your cleaning staff will need to clean:

  • Frequently touched objects – at least twice a day, and between use by different groups

  • Rooms and shared areas – more frequent cleaning, and between use by different groups

Focus on high-contact and shared areas

Your cleaning staff should use standard cleaning products (such as detergents and bleach) to clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. We can supply these for you.

As a minimum, twice a day (one of these times should be at the start or the end of the day) your cleaning staff should wipe down frequently touched objects and surfaces like:

  • Door and window handles

  • Banisters

  • Work surfaces (including desks and tables)

  • Bathroom facilities (including taps and flush buttons)

  • Remote controls

  • Computer equipment (including keyboards and mouse devices)

  • Classroom resources, such as books and games

  • Furniture

  • Light switches

  • Reception desks

  • Telephones

  • Fingerprint scanners

  • Communal kitchens or canteens (speak to your catering staff about whether they'll be doing this)

And between use by different groups, your cleaning staff should clean shared areas and resources, such as:

  • Sports, art and science equipment

  • Outdoor playground equipment

  • Hard toys (you shouldn't have soft toys in school during coronavirus)

  • Dining halls

  • Classrooms

Ensure you make Ashley Cleaning part of your regular daily cleaning arrangements so you can keep everyone safe as you fully reopen in September.

You don't need to deep clean on a regular basis (only when someone has symptoms of, or confirmed COVID-19).

Deep Cleaning & Decontamination Services in Schools

Deep cleaning involves floor-to-ceiling cleaning and disinfecting in a school building that sets the stage for regular, less comprehensive cleaning of heavily traveled areas and surfaces.

Our highly trained staff are working hard to ensure the NHS, care industry, schools and businesses are clean and safe. One of the ways we can do this is through a full decontamination cleaning solutions such as 'fogging', something we have been doing for many years.

Ashley Cleaning Services has been trading for over 30 years and has delivered industrial and commercial cleaning solutions across the UK, long before the coronavirus crisis.

We use heavy-duty antibacterial chemicals, foggers and decontamination units to sanitise the air and surfaces. Fogging is a highly effective treatment to manage infection control and combat viruses and bacteria. This involves creating a fine mist with biocide. These particles are microscopic and remain suspended in the air long enough to kill airborne viruses and micro-organisms. The chemical eliminates pathogens on ceilings and walls, furniture and floors, reaching areas such as soft play areas that are difficult to clean with other, more traditional techniques.

Fogging and other sanitisation measures should feature in contingency planning for the winter season and other times of heightened risk, such as a swine flu outbreak, which can happen at any time. It is also recommended to be part of a full decontamination clean after an infectious outbreak.

Routine Decontamination - A regular fogging regime can provide a good level of protection against infectious outbreaks, due to the biocide continuing to act as a bactericide and virucide. We recommend having areas regularly decontaminated by fogging (at least twice a year) to achieve a good level of protection.

Ashley Cleaning Advice on how to clean buildings to keep students and adults safe:

Perform routine environmental cleaning.

Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces (e.g., doorknobs, light switches, countertops) with cleaners that you typically use.

Use all cleaning products according to the directions on the label.

Provide disposable wipes so that commonly used surfaces (e.g., keyboards, desks, remote controls) can be wiped down by students and staff before each use.
